DAY 2 – YOWZA!
Until that day I thought I had already seen the worst behavior. I had already taught BD (Behavioral Disorder) on the High School level where a kid threw another kid across a room, in her chair.
5th Grade – 3 boys and 1 group had the attitudes of gang members. Aside from taunting me and challenging me with every word I spoke, there were kids bullying each other and soon after class started I asked the Principal to visit. Things calmed down a bit but the rest of the 1 hour experience continued poorly. I managed to get 13/14 students to complete the assignment given but #14 decided to crumple it up and put it in the tray.
I saw these kids in the hallway in the afternoon and the following day (when I returned for a different sub job) and they continued to act out their “I’m from the hood” attitude. The “hood” is my wording, not theirs.
